God's grace shown in changed lives
This is a collection of Twentieth Century miracles, brought about by the Holy Spirit in the pinewoods of New Jersey. Reading about these miracles is next best to seeing them happen or hearing Addison Raws tell about them. His quiet voice is in these accounts as his great heart was in the lives of those who came to Keswick Colony of Mercy for help.
The first time I met Addison Raws and saw Keswick was in the summer of ‘44. I was at the Bible Conference Center, across the lake from the Colony, for a student retreat. During seminary vacations, I had seen God transform hopeless alcoholics in New York City, and my faith in Jesus Christ had been immeasurably strengthened. Now I saw the same strengthening of faith in other students as they listened to Addison Raws and observed the complete deliverance from alcoholism
of men at the Colony. The power of the gospel is no where more evident in our society than in the cure of those who are hopelessly addicted to alcohol or drugs.
Although this book tells about the work of God’s Spirit in the lives
of Colony men, another—equally impressive—could be written about
His work in the lives of people who have found Jesus Christ at the Bible Conference Center. And a significant instrument in that work has been the testimony of men at the Colony. They have been signposts pointing to the power of God to save to the uttermost.
The theme of Keswick is “Where God Speaks to Hearts,” and for
seventy-five years He has been speaking through three generations of
Raws men, their wives and children.
Why does God work miracles such as the ones so simply and movingly narrated in this book? The answer surely is that Keswick is a place of prayer, a place where faithful workers and friends have turned
to God on every occasion, in fire and wintry storm, crisis and disappointments, as well as all the bright days when swans were floating peacefully on the lake.
Read these accounts of God’s work and trust Jesus Christ to work
in your life. He will, even though you may be ten thousand miles from
Keswick.
